US and Canada market entry

Reach US and Canadian B2B buyers.

For companies based outside North America with an established B2B offer and a team ready to speak with US or Canadian buyers. Start with one buyer segment, a clear reason to meet and sales hours your team can cover.

Vivin identifies suitable companies, contacts the people involved in the buying decision and qualifies the agreed next step. Choose accepted buyer enquiries or attended sales appointments; your team runs the sales conversation, proposal and close.

Choose the buyer route and the handoff

A software company selling to an operations director needs a different first conversation from a manufacturer looking for a distributor. Agree the buyer, the need to confirm and the next step before choosing a contact list.

We narrow the first audience by industry, company size, buyer role and US or Canadian region. Existing customers, open opportunities and accounts you cannot serve go on the exclusion list.

Give buyers a reason to consider a foreign supplier

A North American buyer wants to know what the offer is worth, who will deliver it and how to reach your team during their working day. Prepare a plain USD offer, references you have permission to use, a named sales contact and meeting hours that overlap with theirs.

We introduce that offer by email, LinkedIn and phone where suitable. Our callers are based in Canada, the US, the UK and South Africa, and the outreach always says where your company actually operates. We never present you as local when you are not.

  • Your buyer profile and the problem that makes a first meeting worth having.
  • Case studies or product documents you are allowed to share.
  • How you will quote, contract, support and deliver across the border.
  • Meeting windows in US or Canadian hours and the person who follows up.

How to win your first US clients from abroad

Treat your first US clients as a test you design, not a national launch. These five steps keep that test small enough to read.

  1. Pick one US region and one buyer role your references and delivery can support.
  2. Quote in USD and say where you operate and how you support US customers.
  3. Prepare references and documents you have permission to share.
  4. Reserve meeting windows inside the buyer's working day.
  5. Start conversations by email and LinkedIn, plus phone for US and Canadian buyers, and review the first attended meetings before widening the audience.

Vivin runs step 5 and books the meetings; the decisions in steps 1 to 4 stay with your team and advisers.

Contact North American buyers the right way

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation reaches a commercial email whenever a computer system in Canada is used to send or open it (section 12 of the Act), so an overseas sender writing to Canadian inboxes is covered. Unsubscribe requests must take effect within 10 business days.

In the US, the Federal Trade Commission's CAN-SPAM guidance says the law makes no exception for business-to-business email: each message needs a valid postal address, and opt-outs must be honoured within 10 business days. Vivin's published lead agreement lists the rules our campaigns run under, including CASL, PIPEDA and the National Do Not Call List rules in Canada, and CAN-SPAM and the TCPA in the US. This describes our practice and is not legal advice for your own outreach.

Keep the expansion decisions with the right advisers

Vivin handles prospecting and qualification. Incorporation, tax, payroll, product approvals, import duties and contracts need professional advisers, and a promising sales conversation settles none of them.

For official starting points, SelectUSA is the US Department of Commerce program for business investment into the United States, and TFO Canada helps exporters from developing countries find Canadian buyers. Confirm eligibility for any public program with the agency itself; our work does not include government representation or program access.

An illustrative qualified buyer handoff

Illustration, not a client result: a UK software firm chooses US logistics companies in the Eastern and Central time zones. Its sales team can demonstrate the product and support customers in those hours.

The written buyer profile sets the company fit, decision role, business need and timing to confirm. A buyer record is accepted only against those agreed criteria; a relevant job title alone is not enough.

What your first 30 days look like

This is the order of work, not a schedule. We do not promise a date for the first meeting or a number of meetings, because the time each stage takes depends on how quickly the profile, exclusions and quote are agreed and on how reachable your buyers are.

  1. Agree the written buyer profile: the buyer role, company size, US or Canadian region, the problem that makes a meeting worth having, and the criteria a buyer record must meet. Send your exclusion list of customers, open opportunities and accounts you cannot serve.
  2. Review the written quote and agreement. Every fee is listed in your written quote before you sign.
  3. Prepare the handoff: a plain USD offer, references you have permission to share, a named person who will take the meetings and the hours that person can cover.
  4. Outreach starts to the agreed segment by email and LinkedIn, plus phone for US and Canadian buyers. The wording says where your company actually operates.
  5. Replies are checked against your written criteria. A buyer record is accepted only if it meets them, and a sample record appears further down this page.
  6. Your team takes the first attended meetings. Review what buyers said, and what they asked a foreign supplier, before you widen the audience.

Nothing here promises a meeting inside 30 days. If no meeting has been attended by day 30, the review looks at the audience, the offer and the hours offered before anything is widened.

A sample buyer record

Illustration, not a client result: this is the shape of a record your sales team receives for an accepted enquiry or an attended meeting. The company and contact are invented. Times are shown in the buyer's time zone and yours, so nobody joins an hour early or late.

Meeting windows against Eastern time

Offsets are for 20 October 2026, when New York and Toronto are on Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-4). UK and European clocks go back on 25 October 2026 and US and Canadian clocks go back on 1 November 2026, so the gap shifts for a few days and then settles. Eastern time covers New York and Toronto; Central time is one hour earlier and Pacific time three hours earlier.

Tell us which hours your team can take and we plan meetings inside the buyer's working day. From Singapore and Sydney a meeting with an Eastern-time buyer falls late at night or very early in the morning, so decide early who on your team can take those meetings.

Indicative currency conversions, dated 20 October 2026

A guide to roughly what the dollar amounts below are in your currency, not a price in that currency. Rates: European Central Bank euro foreign exchange reference rates for 20 October 2026, cross-calculated through the euro, which put 1 US dollar at 94.93 Indian rupees, 0.8917 euros, 0.7492 pounds, 1.4317 Australian dollars and 1.2785 Singapore dollars. The dirham is not in the European Central Bank list, so it uses the official peg of 3.6725 dirhams per US dollar (UAE Government portal, checked 4 October 2026). Figures are rounded and indicative, and they are not an offer. The cost in your currency moves with the exchange rate, and your bank's rate and fees will differ.

Contracts, quotes and invoices stay in US dollars: USD $15 to $500 per accepted lead, exclusive to you and replaced if it falls outside your written criteria, and USD $100 to $500 per attended appointment, with no-shows not billed. Pay per close is 5% to 20% of attributed contract value plus USD $497 per month, and your team closes, so the percentage has no currency conversion. Every fee is listed in your written quote before you sign.

Selling a physical product? Look at the partner role first

If you make or export a physical product, an importer, distributor, wholesaler or manufacturer's representative may need to come before end customers. Our distributors page compares those roles and lists what a distributor will ask you to prepare.

Questions worth asking first.

Short, direct answers. If yours is not here, bring it to a discovery call.

Do we need a US company to sell to US businesses?

Not to start sales conversations, and our outreach never claims you have one. Whether you need an entity, a local representative or a licence before you sign contracts depends on your product and buyers, so take advice from a qualified adviser.

What is the fastest way to win our first US clients?

Keep the first audience narrow, quote in USD and say plainly where you operate, then let the first attended meetings show whether the demand is there before you invest in a local presence. The five steps under "How to win your first US clients from abroad" on this page set out the order.

Should we start with the US or Canada?

Start where your offer, references, delivery and buyer access are most credible. A specific industry and region are better starting criteria than the size of the country. We can scope separate US and Canadian audiences on the discovery call.

Do you provide incorporation or tax advice?

No. Our service covers sales outreach and buyer qualification. Discuss entity, tax, employment and contracting questions with advisers for your own business, and we will plan the sales scope alongside those decisions.

Who takes the sales meetings?

Your founder, sales lead or subject expert normally takes the buyer meeting, with the prospect context we agreed. Vivin does not take part in the sale itself: your team runs the meetings, proposals, negotiation and close, and we can advise on your closing process.

How are our existing North American opportunities protected?

Send your customer and opportunity exclusions before launch. For pay per close, the agreement also records attribution and how existing accounts are treated. Keep that list current as your own team opens new conversations.

Where can staffing, software and training firms read sector guidance?

Use the established staffing, software-development and corporate-training pages on vivinsales.ca linked below. They cover the sector questions in detail, while this page explains the cross-border entry decision.

How much does appointment setting for the US market cost from outside the US?

USD $15 to $500 per accepted lead, exclusive to you and replaced if it falls outside your written criteria, and USD $100 to $500 per attended appointment, with no-shows not billed. Pay per close is 5% to 20% of attributed contract value plus USD $497 per month, and your team closes. Every fee is listed in your written quote before you sign. The currency box on this page gives dated, indicative figures for 20 October 2026 in rupees, euros, pounds, Australian dollars, dirhams and Singapore dollars; contracts and invoices stay in US dollars.

How long before we see our first US meeting?

We do not promise a date or a number of meetings. The order of work is set out under "What your first 30 days look like", and how long each stage takes depends on how quickly the profile, exclusions and quote are agreed and on how reachable your buyers are. A meeting is billed once it is attended.

Will US buyers know we are not a US company?

Yes. Our outreach always says where your company actually operates, and we never present you as a local business. Be ready to say how you will quote, contract and support US customers, because buyers ask.

Can you call US and Canadian buyers on our behalf, and in whose name?

Our callers phone US and Canadian buyers, and outreach also goes out by email and LinkedIn. The callers are Vivin's, based in Canada, the US, the UK and South Africa. Ask on the discovery call how your company is named in the outreach; the wording always says where your company actually operates.

What do you need from us before you start?

A written buyer profile (the buyer role, company size, US or Canadian region and the problem that makes a meeting worth having), your exclusion list of customers and open opportunities, a plain USD offer, references or documents you have permission to share, a named person who will take the meetings and the hours that person can cover.

What happens if a buyer does not show up?

A no-show is not billed. If the buyer rearranges, the new date is tracked as a reschedule and the meeting becomes billable once it is held. Attendance and qualification evidence are checked before a meeting is counted. This applies to pay per attended appointment.

Will you quote us in rupees, euros, pounds or our own currency?

No. Quotes, contracts and invoices are in US dollars. The currency box on this page shows roughly what the dollar amounts are in other currencies on 20 October 2026, but it is a guide and not a price in those currencies, and the exchange rate moves.

Can we see case studies from companies like ours?

We do not publish client names or results on this site. Judge the offer on the written terms instead: what counts as an accepted lead or an attended meeting, the evidence that comes with each one, how replacements work and the 5 business day dispute window.

Tell us which buyers you want to meet, and where.

Bring your offer, the markets you want to grow in and how you sell today. In 30 minutes we will tell you whether Vivin is a fit and what a first campaign could look like.
